We are seeking a Lead – Operations Finance to join our INPEX Finance team in Perth. Join us in helping shape a brighter energy future.

 

Reporting to the FP&A Manager - Operations, the Lead – Operations Finance will be responsible for fostering strong cross-functional relationships with Operations stakeholders and team development of:

 

      • Operations Finance Business Partners who support Operations stakeholders with cost-informed decision-making, budget/forecast submissions, cost performance reporting and ensuring financial monthly results recorded comply with relevant accounting standards and policies
      • Cost Control team members responsible for supporting Operations stakeholders with invoice management and verification, commitment and cost tracking of discrete scopes of work.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

      • Oversee delivery of financial information for the purpose of:
      • Impacts on cash call estimates
      • Cultivating a cost-conscious and accountability culture, shifting the focus of the FBP team from historical review to performance management
      • Management understanding of business drivers and outcomes
      • Develop understanding of other control systems used by Operations teams (e.g. EcoSys project forecasting) to ensure consistency and compliance with financial accounting principles
      • Guide delivery of Project Application Requests in compliance with Finance policies and processes, including AFE preparation support.
      • Maintain understanding of Operations vendors in relation to the financial risks inherent in the contracts and vendor due diligence process.
      • Oversee invoice management and claims verification Operations vendors and ensure appropriate cost allocation
      • Support JVP reporting and relationships through preparing and contributing to management reporting and variance analysis related to Operations activities and providing assistance to resolve JVP queries
      • Ensure a strong cost control culture via maintaining a rolling forecast which integrates monitoring of commitments and daily tracking (if required) for emergent or discrete scopes of work
      • Optimise processes relating to masterdata (cost centres, WBS, WO’s, etc) and month-end processes with distribution/allocation cycles as they relate to Operations and in accordance with the agreed Cost Methodology
      • Improve the efficiency in the delivery of services to Operations stakeholder
      • Support process simplification and reduction of functional silos
      • Support other broader initiatives of the wider Finance team to bring about maximum efficiency and consistency/standardisation

 

Successful candidates will have:

      • Undergraduate Degree – Accounting (essential)
      • CPA/CA/CIMA (or similar international recognition).
      • Experience in diverse working environments including E&P operations, projects, exploration and manufacturing or production.
      • Experience working closely with financial or joint venture accounting team.
      • Experience using SAP – demonstrably capable – FI, CO, PS modules with a good understanding of MM, PM, BW and other modules.
      • Experience with international accounting standards and activity-based costing.
      • Commercial and organisational acumen with confidence to appropriately challenge peers and leaders
      • Demonstrable knowledge of production maintenance activities, processes and systems
      • Understanding of Australian business environment impacting E&P majors – including contracting strategies, commercial structures, project management techniques
      • Ability to multiple data sources to build and support conclusions
      • Proven capability to influence changes and adapt to varying job requirements.
      • Intellectual curiosity and appreciation of technology

      • Good communication skills, with the ability to influence
      • Relationships and stakeholder management
      • Willingness to adapt processes and participate in a variety of activities beyond core role
