The Opportunity:

We're seeking Process Control Engineers to join our Operations team in Darwin. We welcome applications from engineers looking to further develop their careers, as well as experienced professionals seeking a new challenge.

This role is closely connected to plant performance in a world-scale LNG operation, with the opportunity to contribute to how systems are optimised and operated in real time.

You'll contribute to process control performance by supporting improvements, refining control strategies, and working through operational issues alongside the people running the plant.

It’s a hands-on role in a highly connected team, where engineering and operations work closely together and decisions translate into practical outcomes.

Why Darwin?

Darwin offers a different pace to larger capital cities, with shorter commutes and a more direct connection between teams onsite.

Working in a smaller, close-knit environment means you’re more likely to see the outcomes of your work and be involved across a broader range of activities. For many, it’s an opportunity to step into roles with greater day-to-day variety and visibility.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support day-to-day process control performance, troubleshooting, and optimisation across the facility.
  • Develop and enhance control strategies to improve plant stability, efficiency, and throughput.
  • Monitor control system performance and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to alarm management and control system integrity.
  • Support system changes, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex operational challenges.
  • Contribute to technical reviews, audits, and documentation.

What we’re looking for:

We encourage applications from both established Process Control Engineers and Senior Process Control Engineers with experience in LNG, oil and gas, power generation, mining, or other complex industrial operations. You will be a strong fit for this role if you bring:

  • A degree in engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with process control or automation systems in a complex industrial environment
  • Exposure to advanced process control, regulatory control, or optimisation tools
  • Familiarity with distributed control systems and plant data systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and improve system performance
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, and engineering stakeholders
  • A focus on safety, reliability, and continuous improvement
  • Have suitable transportation to and from the Ichthys LNG Onshore Processing Facility located at Bladin Point.
  • Hold a current Australian driver's license

This role is for applicants residing in or willing to relocate to Darwin.

Closing date for applications is 14 July 2026. INPEX reserves the right to close applications early should a suitable pool of candidates be identified. Please note that direct feedback on applications will only be provided to interviewed candidates.

What We Offer:

Darwin & Relocation Support:

  • Domestic relocation support for you and your family, including up to six months of transitional accommodation.
  • Residential Housing Support Allowance and site‑based allowances.
  • Five weeks’ annual leave (including an additional onshore special leave).
  • Contribution towards annual travel costs to and from Darwin.

Leave & Flexibility:

  • 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave.
  • Option to purchase additional leave.
  • Additional company leave, including INPEX Foundation Day, discretionary leave, and community volunteering leave.

Remuneration & Financial Benefits:

  • Competitive remuneration package with performance‑based incentives.
  • Superannuation above the standard guarantee.
  • Salary packaging options, including novated leasing.
  • Reward and recognition programs, including access to discounts from over 350 retailers.

Career Growth & Development:

  • Clear pathways for career development and internal progression.
  • Structured leadership development programs with ongoing support.
  • Dedicated study leave and access to learning and development opportunities.

Wellbeing:

  • Access to wellbeing initiatives, including gym membership options and health resources.
  • A supportive workplace focused on safety, balance and sustainable work practices.
